Monitoring and Evaluation

AgriCord combines four types of information for monitoring of Farmers Fighting Poverty. The type of information is referred to as pillars, as illustrated in the table below. Information is bound to short term projects (pillar 1), to competences of farmers’ organisations on the medium term (pillar 2), to results for members of farmers’ organisations on the long term (pillar 3) and to services of AA’s and functioning of the alliance (pillar 4). Information under pillar 2 and 3 concerns results to which AA’s contribute, while information under 1 and 4 concerns results that can be attributed to AA’s.

This information is collected in very diverse ways. Agri-agencies and farmers’ organisations use a broad range of specialised methods and instruments to capture information for the different pillars. AgriCord has recently reviewed inventories of all tools used by agri-agencies to retrieve information for the different pillars, as relevant for impact.

The information gained (from agri-agencies, farmers’ organisations, external resources) is reportedper project (pillar 1) and per farmers’ organisation (pillar 2 and mostly also pillar 3) in Agro-info.net (AIN). AgriCord consolidates this information over all projects and farmers’ organisations, to assure an overall report on the funded activities, farmers’ organisations and results and to make its own business analysis.

To allow consolidation of the diverse information, AgriCord works with filters of information for each pillar. These filters can be seen as containers where information is gathered and transformed to a uniform type of information for consolidation. The table below indicates the type of filters used for each pillar.
