AsiaDHRRA
Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Asia

AsiaDHRRA joined AgriCord in 2011 as an agri-agency working with the Asian Farmers' Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA).
As an agri-agency and a regional partnership of NGOs working in 11 Asian countries dedicated to the empowerment of farmers, AsiaDHRRA specializes on capacity building, policy advocacy, economic empowerment, and, partnerships building at the national, regional, and global levels. It catalyzed the formation of AFA, which now represents more than 10 million farmers in Asia. As a convener of broad-based regional platforms of rural development CSOs, it also works with fisherfolks, IPs, rural women and youth, and, agri-cooperatives.
AsiaDHRRA works on the issues of food security, climate change, market access, social protection, participatory governance. It has successfully cooperated with various stakeholders in implementing programs on linking small farmers to markets, policy advocacy with regional intergovernmental agencies, food and governance bodies, and banks (e.g. ASEAN, FAO, IFAD, ADB, WB), and on capacity building for constructive engagement with governments. In 2014, it embarked on a post disaster farm and livelihoods rebuilding program in the Philippines in support of local farmers' associations heavily affected by super typhoon Haiyan. It aims to strengthen its work along disaster risk reduction and management to accompany FOs in climate vulnerable communities and help build more resilient communities through strong rural peoples' organizations.
AsiaDHRRA's over-arching approach is anchored on the spirit of genuine peoples' dialogue to understand and work together towards a shared vision of empowered Asian rural communities, living in peace and working in solidarity towards self-reliance. Operating on a lean secretariat based in Manila, AsiaDHRRA banks on the strength and presence of its members at the national and community levels, the dedication and competence of its leadership and staff, and its solid track record and strong social capital in the region.
