Andreas Hermes Akademie

The Andreas Hermes Akademie (AHA) is a nationwide operating institution for further education in the German agricultural and food industry, also providing services in an international context. Our Mission is to empower people through personal, social and methodological competences.
We develop tailor-made concepts for our clients and accompany them in their development and change processes. We focus on the personality of the persons involved. Individual goals and objectives as well as personal challenges are the starting points of our training programs. Central goal of our training is development of competences through training.
The institution has 13 member parties with DBV Deutscher Bauernverband holding a majority stake.
AHA became a member agri-agency of AgriCord in November 2014. We have started activities in 2015 to strengthen farmer organizations in several countries in Africa and in India with financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. We appreciate the good support and cooperation and the experience shared by the members of AgriCord.

DBV, Deutscher Bauernverband, Germany

Founded in 1948, DBV is the professional representation of German agriculture and forestry. The DBV is an agricultural umbrella organisation. Its members are the 18 federal state farmers’ associations, where more than 90 % of the about 380.000 German farmers are voluntary associated – a degree of organisation that cannot be found elsewhere. Above 300 district organisations are a direct contact for the famers on the ground. 45 associations and institutions of the agricultural and rural sector are associated members.
DBV is committed to the European idea. DBV is a member of the Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations (COPA). DBV is representing German agriculture in the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO), based in Rome. WFO is the voice of the worldwide farming community towards the international organisations like the United Nations with its Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). In the framework of cooperation projects, our communication and exchange with similar organisations, particularly in developing countries, provides a pool of expertise and know-how.
In this context, DBV is convinced that well organised farmers are the key to a sufficient and sustainable agriculture worldwide
