ACODEA
Fundación ACODEA, Agencia de Cooperación al Desarrollo de la Agricultura, Spain

ACODEA, Agency for Agricultural Development Cooperation, was created in 2010 by the Spanish organizations UPA (Small Farmers’ Union) and FADEMUR (Federation of Associations of Rural Women), with the paramount objective of contributing to professionalized agriculture and to the global human development with gender equality in developing countries.
ACODEA’s mission pursues the strengthening of cooperatives and farmers’ organizations in developing countries through the advice and assistance delivered by their colleagues in Spain and other countries. Thus, ACODEA is based in what we call the farmer-to-farmer principle. For this purpose, ACODEA stablishes and develops a network of Spanish experts, as a branch of the Agripool, recruiting, selecting and preparing members, managers and employees from Spanish cooperatives to be deployed on advice missions.
ACODEA is focused on working with cooperatives in Latin America, due to the obvious similarities in terms of language, culture and the level of development of the organizations.
ACODEA became a member agri-agency of AgriCord in November 2014 and its office is based in Madrid, Spain.

UPA and FADEMUR
UPA, Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos, Spain FADEMUR, Federación de Asociaciones de Mujer

As a professional farmers’ organisation, UPA represents and defends the interests of more than 80.000 small and medium scale family farmers and cattle breeders in Spain. UPA is part of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of Spain, where it participates and represents farmers in national and regional forums. UPA is member of COPA, is represented in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and is member of the World Farmers’ Organisation.
UPA has specific divisions and programmes for young farmers (UPA-Rural Youth) and women farmers (FADEMUR-Federation of Rural Women).
FADEMUR is a young organisation that strives for gender equality and promotion of women living and working in rural areas. It was created with the aim of strengthening the work of rural women associations that it is composed, with the idea that ‘the more we unite the more we will be stronger for our demands for fundamental rights and for influencing the design of policies public that really fit our needs’.
The union is a reference agricultural organisation in Spain, and established working relations with all relevant Ministries. UPA has an office in Brussels, for follow-up of the EU common agricultural policy (Política Agraria Común, PAC) as well as for a better representation of the Spanish farmers in the Consultative Committees of the EU.
