Opening of a Joint Office of Agricord Alliance members in Burkina Faso: a new place of cooperation for Afdi, Fert and Trias
Since January 2018, a Joint Office in Ouagadougou is now open and gathers three agri-agencies active in West Africa: Agriculteurs Francais & Developpement International (Afdi), Fert and Trias. This successful clustering follows several years of cooperation and shared experiences on the field with farmers organisations from Burkina Faso. This new office is a very good prospect for cooperation and synergies in the activities for the three agri-agencies. AgriCord has made significant efforts to deepen the cooperation and complementarity of its members’ work. Close collaboration between agri-agencies in countries is becoming a trend towards the improvement of efficiency, visibility and coherence in projects implementation. This approach is a key milestone to find the best services and tools for the specific demands of each farmers’ organisations.
For the last years, AgriCord has supported local cooperatives in Burkina Faso to improve market access, production capacity of rice through the rehabilitation of canals and dams, and on quality and marketing of local milk production. This has contributed to improve the food security in the country. The agri-agencies are collaborating in similar regions since 2012, with the Union des coopératives rizicoles Faso Djigui de Bama (UCRB), L’Union Nationale des Producteurs de Riz du Burkina Faso (UNPR-B) and l'Union Nationale des Mini laiteries et des Producteurs de Lait (UNMLPB).
