AgriCord and partners launch phase II of the Forest and Farm Facility initiative
ROME - The FAO Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) is an international partnership providing support to forest and farm producer organisations across Africa, Asia and Latin America. AgriCord is an important member of this successful partnership together with IIED and IUCN. AgriCord is happy to share with its members the recent developments regarding the partnership.
On July 20th, FFF phase II (2018-2022) was launched in Rome. In the panel discussion AgriCord’s CEO Hannelore Beerlandt emphasized the importance of FFF as a key partner in FO lead advocacy efforts. Joint advocacy opportunities of AgriCord and FFF will be explored and up-scaled during the FFF phase II, especially fomenting advocacy synergies at the country level. Also, the partnership will push for an increased participation of FOs in climate change policy processes and programs. These efforts are in line with major decision COP 23 adopted on “Issues Relating to Agriculture”, which recognizes the crucial importance of agriculture and forestry for the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
Phase II implementation will be concentrated in seven partner countries: Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Vietnam, Nepal, Bolivia and Ecuador. In addition, the project will deliver technical support and knowledge exchange in a wider network of countries, including Tanzania, Liberia, Gambia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
Ms. Tiina Huvio (MTK/AgriCord) has been elected as Chair of the Steering Committee of FAO FFF as the representative of the AgriCord alliance. The Steering Committee is composed of 12 representatives and guides the operations of the FFF. The Steering Committee also monitors the progress made within the program and provides regular, strategic feedback to the stakeholders of FFF. AgriCord would like to warmly congratulate the newly elected chair.
