European Development Days

15 and 16 December has been hold in Warsaw the 6th European Development Days. It has been organised by the Polish Presidency of the European Union and the European Commission.

The European Development Days proposed 2 days of dialogs and debates between the EC, the EU MS representatives, development agencies, NGOs and the private sector, around the theme “development and democracy”. The main idea was how to share experiences of transformations and the participants particularly debated mechanisms by which protagonists of Arabic springs claimed their liberty to create changes and initiate processes of democratization. 

Andris Pielbags, the European Commissioner to the development, presented its plan “An agenda for change” and underlined the importance to work in partnership with the local communities and civil society organizations. 

A debate on the role of the private sector also took place.
