AgriCord president steps down
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
On May 31, Laurent Pellerin will resign from his position as President of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) to assume the position of Chairperson of the Farm Products Council of Canada. This means that his chair of AgriCord, the alliance of agri-agencies, also ends. Laurent Pellerin presided over this network of agricultural organisations focusing
on international development since 2006. Laurent Pellerin leaves the AgriCord presidency, "with mixed feelings" as he said, referring to his genuine enthousiasm and commitment within AgriCord. Next meetings of the Board and General Assembly are scheduled for 28 and/or 29 June in Paris. Although his chairmanship ends on May 31, Pellerin will participate in these meetings.
"Laurent has been a committed contributor to CFA and provided great leadership to this organisation," said Ron Bonnett, 1st Vice President of CFA. "He will certainly be missed, but we wish him all the best in his future pursuits," said Garnet Etsell, 2nd Vice President.
The leadership duties of the CFA will be shared in the interim by Ron Bonnett and Garnet Etsell until elections for all three executive officer positions are held at the CFA Annual General Meeting in February 2011.
