AgriCord president steps down

A hog farmer from Saint-Grégoire, Québec, Pellerin was elected as CFA President in 2009 and had served on the CFA executive for over ten years. "In speaking with Canadian farmers across the country, I have learned a tremendous amount about the diverse issues that farmers face in Canada and I look forward to continuing to work with industry in my new role," said Pellerin.

Laurent Pellerin leaves the AgriCord presidency, "with mixed feelings" as he said, referring to his genuine enthousiasm and commitment within AgriCord.  Next meetings of the Board and General Assembly are scheduled for 28 and/or 29 June in Paris. Although his chairmanship ends on May 31, Pellerin will participate in these meetings.

"Laurent has been a committed contributor to CFA and provided great leadership to this organisation," said Ron Bonnett, 1st Vice President of CFA. "He will certainly be missed, but we wish him all the best in his future pursuits," said Garnet Etsell, 2nd Vice President.

The leadership duties of the CFA will be shared in the interim by Ron Bonnett and Garnet Etsell until elections for all three executive officer positions are held at the CFA Annual General Meeting in February 2011.
