The LLTB is a local division of the Dutch Federation of Agriculture and Horticulture LTO in the province of Limburg. They defend the interest of their 3500 members. In a committee "Agriculture and development cooperation", the LLTB decided 20 years ago to start supporting initiatives on development cooperation. To celebrate this 20th anniversary, the LLTB organises a symposium on Friday 3rd of October 2008 with a central focus on “Voedsel voor iedereen én globalisering? (food for everyone ánd globalisation?). At the same time a number of foreign guests are invited to participate in an exchange week in which visits to their arable farming and horticulture colleagues in Limburg are planned. The overall goal is to help southern farmers to become more independent and to develop their own initiatives.

MISSION: Exploring partnership Agriterra/SNV/APF in the Balkans SNV and Agriterra have decided to intensify working-relations, as they both believe that working together supports each others programmes and objectives. This is reflected in a Memorandum of Cooperation, signed in 2007. The basic idea is that Agriterra, SNV and APF-office pool the best of their resources and contribute together to poverty reduction more efficiently and effectively. SNV brings in its network, knowledge of local dynamics and advisory potential; Agriterra contributes with its own network, advisory potential, expertise and financial resources; APF contributes with its support office to facilitate knowledge management: a win-win situation for support to producer organizations. MISSION: Ondersteuning van Zadruga’s in Noord-Oost Bosnië In 2006 en 2007 heeft Agriterra twee uitwisselingsmissies gefaciliteerd tussen de LLTB en Bosnische boeren van de Zadruga`s Vocar en Prunus in Noordoost Bosnië. Deze contacten bestonden al vele jaren via de Stichting Mensen Werken Voor Mensen (Tilburg) en de werkgroep voor het opknappen van oude werktuigen van de LLTB. De uitwisselingen van 2006 en 2007 hebben een nieuwe dynamiek aan de samenwerkng gegeven, en heeft er toe geleid dat de LTTB een eerste aanzet voor een projectvoorstel ingediend bij Agriterra ter ondersteuning van Zadruga Vocar en Zadruga Prunus. Dit voorstel heeft in instemming van Zadruga Vocar gekregen. Echter, het ontbreekt op dit moment nog aan een compleet uitgewerkt voorstel. De LLTB en Zadruga Vocar hebben het verzoek voor een projectformuleringsmissie bij Agriterra neergelegd. MISSION: Orientation mission Cooperative Strengthening in Bosnia-Herzegovina by LLTB The LLTB has established contacts with farmer groups in Bosnia, which are organised through Zadrugas (cooperatives). Contacts were historically focussing around repairing and transportation of used agricultural machinery and equipment to Bosnia. Bosnian farmers have paid a visit to LLTB, the Netherlands in 2006. This visit did create a lot of synergy on both sides. On request of the Zadruga VOCAR, a LLTB delegation is visiting Bosnia to assess whether and in what ways contacts can be further developed aiming at further strengthening the Zadrugas and assisting farmers in improving their livelihood. The transition process of existing Zadrugas towards more participatory and member-led organisations, actually rendering services to members, is a major attention points during the visit
