In the last years, NAJK worked with Agriterra on the project "Grensverleggende Samenwerking" (crossing borders together) performed at the provincial level where partnerships were made with young farmers in developing countries. There are a number of lessons learned from these collaborations: 1. Mostly employees or national board members from the partner organizations were involved in the cooperation, while on behalf of NAJK local members participated. As a result, the true connection was missing. 2. The involved members were often connected to the project for too long. This wasn’t a good stimulus for new members to start in the project, like NAJK and Agriterra wished for. 3. The positive effect on the development of the foreign young farmers wasn't visible enough for the young Dutch farmers. The Dutch young farmers got demotivated. This all indicates a need for more counselling services aimed at local and regional level, because this a) levels more with the knowledge that NAJK members have and b) the knowledge reaches the people who need it. This also better fits with the new mission and vision of Agriterra. This project focuses principally on transfer of knowledge at the basis. But: the level of advice offered will be according to the level of the advice asked by the foreign organization (local/regional/national). There is also a training program for the Dutch members (young people between 18 and 35 years), so they are better prepared for advising en consulting.

NAJK (Dutch Agrarian Youth Contact) is the association of, by and for young farmers, market gardeners and their partners. NAJK counts about 10.000 members organized within 250 local clubs (Agrarian Youth Contacts and Young Agrarian Women clubs). NAJK is member of the CEJA, Conseil Européen des Jeunes Agriculteurs. For the period 2007-2008 NAJK-International has planned to intensify her activities on the area of International Cooperation and to try and touch a larger public. To achieve this, activities will be brought to attention of the members more actively, to create more support for international cooperation and to get involved more members directly. Activities will be organized which can be clustered in 3 main themes: international lobby, international entrepreneurschip and international cooperation. Activities of NAJK-International on the area of International cooperation can be subdivised as follows: 1. Partnerships between Provincial Groups International and its partnerorganizations in the South; 2. International Cooperation Day for the Provincial Groups International; 3. Participation in the IFAP-Youth Congress; 4. Agri-Pool Junior: sending abroad expertised members.

Het NAJK wil meer verantwoordelijkheid gaan dragen ten aanzien van internationale samenwerking. Zij wil de begeleiding van de zes werkgroepen decentraliseren en overdragen aan gekwalificeerde regionale medewerkers. De coordinator NAJK Internationaal zal zorgdragen voor de inhoudelijke begeleiding en sturing van de regionale medewerkers. NAJK zal hierin een groot deel van de begeleidende taken van Agriterra overnemen.
