04fa-2887 Consolidation of independent farmers organisation
The project is embedded in the continued and lasting partnership between ZLTO, Agritera and the Farmers Association for Development (FAD) Thailand. It aims at building a strong and independent farmers organisation nationwide. The proposal builts upon earlier acomplishments which resulted in the establishment and operation of 10 regional FAD committees, guided and steered by the National Committee and covering almost the entire country. This particular project aims at strengthening several organisational and insitutional aspects in the functionning of FAD Thailand and focusses especially on strengthening the regional chapters and the internal linkages with the national body and with grassroot affiliates. Special attention is given to the development of economic activities, preferably in alliance with private sector to enhance FAD financial sustainability.
03fa-0375 Strengthening of grass-root level FAD organisatio
In the first phase FAD has established a national office, has elected a national committee and 10 regional FAD committees covering the whole of Thailand. In the next phase the extension of the FAD organisation up to tambon level has to be realised. The first step is the establishment of 10 operational regional offices covering 5-7 Provinces each. The chosen representatives of the regional committees will hold office at these regional secretariats. During the reporting period, structural linkanges between the different level (national, regional, tambon) will be strengthened and the capacity of the FAD representatives will be enhanced through training programmes. At local level FAD will be functionning to assess local funds and subsidies available for rural development. Next to building up, extending and strengthening the internal organisation, FAD aims at improving it´s external network and linkages on national and inter-national level. Existing contacts with Government organisations have to be structured / institutionalised and contacts with other parties in society (private business, NGOs) have to be strengthened.
03fa-0175 Master Plan FAD-Thailand.
Farmers Federation Association for Development, FAD-Thailand, was established in the year 2000 as an independent farmers organisation. The challenge is to develop an independent, democratic functionning, rural membership organisation from scratch. The project is aiming at consolidating and strengthening the national structure, establishment of a nation wide organisational structure through the establishment of 10 regional committees (representing 5-7 Provinces each, establishing an effective network and the development, formulation and incorporation of a shared vision, strategy and programme. The project involves activities aiming at organisational built-up and strengthening, capacity building and network development. FAD national wants to render services to members through the regional FADs in the field of capacity building (organisational & technical), lobby and advocacy and the initiation of economic activities.
