The AgriCord Gender Vision serves as both a strategic guide and a call to action for the alliance’s members. It draws on the experience of agri-agencies active in over 50 countries and showcases transformative examples from Chad, Madagascar, Nepal, Uganda, Benin, Ecuador, Rwanda, and beyond.
Through concrete stories and case studies, the document demonstrates how gender transformation is already underway and led by farmer organizations, cooperatives, and rural communities that are redefining leadership, markets, and decision-making to become truly inclusive.
The Vision is structured around five interconnected pillars of transformation:
- Education and Capacity Building: Empowering women and girls through literacy, training, and access to knowledge.
- Economic Empowerment: Supporting women’s entrepreneurship and gender-responsive cooperatives.
- Strengthening Farmer Organizations: Embedding gender equity in governance and leadership structures.
- Access to Rights: Promoting social, political, and economic rights for rural women.
- Towards Gender Transformation: Engaging men as allies and addressing masculinities to achieve deep cultural change.
