About farmer-to-farmer
Farmers’ organisations can call upon advisory services at any time. Experts come from farmers’ organisations, including agri-agency staff. Often, these exchanges are part of longstanding partnerships between the farmers’ organisations involved. Farmers Fighting Poverty promotes linkages between OECD farmers’ organizations and their colleagues in developing countries, as well as cooperation between organisations from developing countries.
AgriCord also relies on "external" consultants (from outside farmers’ organisations), and builds alliances with organisations that complement its expertise. Advice can be sought on any of the work areas and cross-cutting areas. Advisory services are provided either directly in missions, in the form of desk work, or by continued presence in the field.
Farmer-to-farmer contacts are particularly effective in organisational and institutional development processes: the "organisational" challenges are often similar, and the discussion on specific conditions (political, social, economic...) generates ideas and appropriate solutions. Solving problems with the help of peers is a motivating and stimulating process.
